The Dublin Super Cup
Endemol Sport has teamed up with The Football Association of Ireland (FAI) to create the Dublin Super Cup, a pre-season competition that will bring the biggest names in world football to Ireland’s Aviva stadium.
The star-studded first squads of Scottish giants Celtic FC and Premier League title-chasers Manchester City will join reigning Italian, European and World Club champions Inter Milan for the inaugural football festival. The electrifying line up will be completed by the Airtricity XI, a team selected from the best players from Ireland’s top domestic League.
The Dublin Super Cup, is scheduled for the bank holiday weekend of 30th and 31st July and promises to be a fantastic event for football fans and families alike. Every ticket sold gives access to both games taking place each day as well as a host of superb match day entertainment.
The three international teams will all be using the tournament as an integral part of their preparation for the new season and, as such, will be bringing their strong first-team squads. Fans in Ireland will get the chance to see some of the biggest names in world football in action, with the likes of World Cup Winner David Silva, England internationals Adam Johnson and James Milner, Africa’s most decorated player of all time Cameroon’s Samuel Eto’o, Holland’s Wesley Sneijder, Italy's Mario Balotelli, Ivory Coast’s Yaya Toure and Scotland’s Scott Brown set to appear.
The Dublin Super Cup is set to be a weekend packed with entertainment including live music and a variety of fun activities for everyone to enjoy in and around the stadium. Full details of the entertainment will be confirmed closer to launch, along with complete fixture details following the tournament draw.
The competition will see Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini coming up against his old team, Inter Milan, where he won three consecutive Serie A titles as manager before joining The Blues.
Mancini commented, “I am really looking forward to taking Manchester City to Ireland for The Dublin Super Cup. It will form an integral part of our preparations for the 2011/12 season.
